چکیده

The ETSI-BRAN-HIPERACCESS standard is confined to specify the radio subsystem above 11 GHz of a Point-to-Multi-Point (PMP) interoperable system consisting of the Physical (PHY) layer and the Data Link Control (DLC)/Convergence Layer (CL)which are both core network independent. The paper gives a description of the Physical Layer, which specifies the transmission scheme in order to allow interoperability between equipment developed by different manufacturers. This is achieved by standardizing all base-band signal processing structures in the transmitter side by using the most technology advanced architecture and components. The system, by employing adaptive coding and modulation (i.e. individual link adaptation) and cell sectorization techniques, offers a high spectral efficiency and a great flexibility for the deployment. Furthermore, the specification includes basic RF aspects and those other parameters necessary for radio regulatory purposes.

IEEE Contribution to ITU-R on "Radio interface specifications for fixed broadband wireless access (BWA) systems",

This standard specifies the air interface of fixed (stationary) point-to-multipoint broadband wireless access systems providing multiple services. The medium access control layer is capable of supporting multiple physical layer specifications optimized for the frequency bands of application. The standard includes a particular physical layer specification applicable to systems operating between ...

A Comparison of the HIPERLAN/2 and IEEE 802.11a Wireless LAN Standards

At present, WLANs supporting broadband multimedia communication are being developed and standardized around the world. Standards include HIPERLAN/2, defined by ETSI BRAN, 802.11a, defined by the IEEE, and HiSWANa defined by MMAC. These systems provide channel adaptive data rates up to 54 Mb/s (in a 20 MHz channel spacing) in the 5 GHz radio band. In this article an overview of the HIPERLAN/2 an...

Asynchronous Wideband CDMA for IMT-2000

This paper presents an overview of the wideband CDMA concept which was chosen in ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) in January 1998 as a basis for UMTS air interface for FDD (Frequency division duplexing) operation. UMTS is the 3rd generation mobile communication system specified within ETSI. This paper is organized as follows. First, the background of WCDMA is presented in ...

Structure and Performance of the HIPERLAN/2 Physical Layer

At present, standards for broadband wireless multimedia communications in the 5 GHz band are being developed in Europe as well as in the U.S. and Japan. HIPERLAN/2 is an upcoming standard which is being specified by the ETSI Project BRAN and is intended to be finished in April 2000. The physical layers of the three systems will be well harmonized whereas the upper layer protocols are different....
